What are spiritual credentials?
Ever wonder what qualifies a person to do what they do? How do they have the authority to perform their job or do their career work? Many positions have requirements and credentials. Credentials come in various forms. Many licenses drivers have state issued identification saying they are able to drive a car, truck, semi-truck, or motorcycle. Restrictions include must wear glasses to drive or may need handicap modifications will be on the identification.
Now what about spiritual and clergy members? What are their credentials? Many find their spiritual paths come in different forms. Some are called, some are found, and some are appointed their spiritual careers. They may learn from an elder, apprentice under a professional, or may have book learning to reach the desired area in the career choice. Upon completion, there may be a traditional transition of power or acknowledgement, a completion of a criteria of skills, or a graduation ceremony.
Then depending on state or territories, there may be acknowledgement or state paperwork that is completed to show that the community has given the person permission or authority to work in the community or legally in their state. Spiritual or clergy positions may be publicly documented. Documentation is considered tenure or a lifetime position, unless the community or state removes authority or permission due to misconduct or other similar actions.
