DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The diet is evidenced-based and related search is provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
The focus is on eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, poultry, seeds, nuts, low-fat or fat-free dairy products, and vegetable oils. Limiting sodium, sweets, sugary foods and beverages, along with red meat.
The diet is rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, fiber, and protein.
Lowering sodium to 2,300-1,500 mg to reduce blood pressure.
