Why do I have to stay after my visit?
Often there are times when your provider will see you and preform a treatment in the office. Depending on what type of treatment is done, the patient will need to stay to be monitored. This is often curious to patients and they do not always understand why they need to lay still longer, sit and dangle their legs, or just hang out post getting a shot.
The reason why is there are often side effects that happen shortly after a procedure is done that may cause the patient to need immediate help. Post getting an injection may result in an allergic reaction and if the patient is waiting, there will be medical help if needed. Sitting and dandling your legs, helps readjust your blood pressure. This may keep patients from fainting or pass out if they move too quickly. This prevents injuries if no falls happen.
So while a patient may feel fine one moment the body can change that quickly. Please understand the extra measures are to keep the patient safe. Everyone is working toward the same goal of excellent health and care for patients.
