Cost of an appointment is important to a patient. What is the out of pocket cost to them?
If a patient arrives for their appointment and has no insurance, this is called a self pay patient. This means that the entire visit and any expense of any testing is paid at the time of the visit.
A co-pay appointment. Many patients have insurance when arriving for an appointment. This means that the patient has agreed with the insurance company they will split part of the bill. The co-pay is the agreed part of the bill that the patient will pay when arriving at the appointment. The rest of the bill will be sent to the insurance company.
No co-pay appointment or self pay. This means that the insurance has agreed to pay for the entire visit per terms of the insurance agreement made with the patient. The insurance company will then pay the provider.
