No show means that a patient has made an appointment and/or reserved time to be with a provider for x amount of time.
Several things happen when a no show happens.
Clients may be charged for the miss appointment.
Clients may violate the schedule policy and may be discharged from the provider's services.
Should an appointment be missed, a call to the office should be placed to confirm a reschedule, should events why the appointment was missed was beyond control, such as a snow storm.
Do note that providers may not refill medications if patients are not seen. It is in the patients' interest to be sure medications are effective and no adverse effects have risen over the course of the use of the medication. This is why refills and follow ups are necessary.
