Bone Pain: Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis
There are several types of bone pain from non-injuries. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the ones that will cause most folks pain in joints that will change how they progress about their daily lives. Changes in weather will cause both types to have flare ups. This is due to the change in the barometer that can be felt in the joints. Suffers can often predict when a storm is on the way. Many will begin medication to help decrease the pain.
Typically, osteoarthritis pain will bother joints in people from 30 to 60 minutes in the morning. Suffers will say, that it takes them time to work out the pain or warm up their joints so they can get moving. Often, they are able to move throughout the day with little or no pain.
Rheumatoid arthritis suffers tend to get less relief quickly and the joints will begin to disfigure, causing the hands to decrease in ability. This can cause the client to have more difficulty completing daily living activates and need more help or adjustments, such as, bigger buttons or Velcro instead of shoestrings, to accommodate dressing.
Over the counter Tylenol will help with arthritis but excess of Tylenol can destroy the liver. Lab work with your provider is recommended. Providers can also refer clients with rheumatoid arthritis to specialist that may be able to offer medication targeted toward this disease. Medication for rheumatoid arthritis needs to have routine lab work and monitoring for side effects. Currently, there is no cure, but symptoms are managed and adjustment in daily actives increases quality of life.
