A physical is done once a year to see if a student is healthy enough to play a sport.
One to keep in mind is this physical is done by a provider at the beginning of the year. Health changes over the course of the year will not be related in this beginning of the year physical. Students need to keep in mind that if they have any changes in health, they should renew their physical exam.
Another notable concern is to be sure all paper work is filled out correctly. Fill out all the necessary information before the provider sees the physical forms.
The next step is to be sure the paperwork is filed correctly. Many physical forms need to be a particular type of form. This is important if the student is wanting to earn a scholarship with the sport played. Not filling out the correct form can prevent a scholarship. This is the student's responsibility to present the right and correct form to a provider to be filled out.
Last note of information. Should a student engaged in drinking, street drugs, inappropriate conduct, this may violate the terms of a physical that would allow a student to play a sport, as they are seen as not health. Again, this responsibility belongs to the student.
