Thanksgiving Putting the Meal on the Table.
There is a time every year where there is a traditional meal. Everyone eats it and gives thanks. Not everyone can afford the expense of adding such a big meal to their budget. Many can’t be expected to host family, year after year, with no help or input from extra family members.
Say no. Saying grace once a year and giving thanks does not have to happen just once a year. It can happen every meal and every day.
Do say yes to invitations. Do attend and ask the host if you should bring anything or help with the cleanup. If you are a picky eater. Bring something you will eat and enough to share with others. If you want a particular type of dessert. Then, bring it. Don’t blame the host for their lack of your preferences or dietary restrictions. A couple bites won’t kill your waistline. Eating the entire thing will.
Do think of those who never get invited anywhere for anything. Stop by with a plate of food. Lord knows, most refrigerators have leftovers for weeks, might as well enlist others to help you eat them quickly. A plate of food is also the perfect reason to stop in and check on a neighbor or family member to see if they are okay.
And remember, it is all about saying Thank you for your blessings and spending time with family and friends. Good or bad, the time spent will create some wonderful memories and stories for later.
